HTC ChaCha: Easy Facebook Updates, Mediocre Specs

Almost everyone is connected with each other nowadays via Facebook, so HTC came up with a brilliant idea to have a smart phone which has a dedicated Facabook button, thus HTC ChaCha was conceived. From the outside, the HTC ChaCha looks totally different from the recently launched HTC touchscreen phones and looks more like a Blackberry phone, sporting a Qwerty keyboard and a relatively small landscape screen. You have the option to navigate the phone either through the touch screen or the keyboard. The 2.6 inch display with 480×320 pixels looks crisp and sharp. The apps that came with the phone were tweaked to take advantage of the display’s landscape orientation.

For those would love tweeting and texting, this phone is an excellent choice. This phone lives up with our expectations to have speedy typing because the buttons were nicely spaced and less prone to typing mistakes. The dedicated Facebook button, located under the keyboard provides immediate access to the phone’s social networking app. Once you enter the facebook app, you are able to update your Facebook status, tweet and select photos to share online. As soon as your Facebook messages arrive, it will show up in the phone’s unified inbox along with your standard emails. Another cool feature is that your Facebook events in your calendar will also be filled with the event’s wall and attendees, which the address book will show the Facebook Chat status of your contacts.

At the moment, the iPhone and Android apps for Facebook are not so user friendly, so we’re expecting this phone to enhance our social interaction. However, this is not the only “Facebook Phone” in the market right now as INQ Cloud Q, another touchscreen phone with a Qwerty keyboard could give stiff competition in this category. Besides the Facebook functions, this phone works just like any other Android smartphone. Running on Android 2.3.3, this phone takes advantage of the huge selection of apps from the Android Market. You are able to download and install games, widgets, programs on your phone, mostly available for free. You’re also able to customize the widgets in your phone according to your preference, enabling you to do everything such as viewing your photos to update your Facebook status without loading an app. Web browsing works just as great on this Android phone with one of the fastest and most accurate web browser available. If you are into online videos, the good news is this phone supports Flash. To conclude, get this phone if you are a Facebook freak otherwise don’t bother because this phone has only mediocre specs.
